چکیده

that the yield of matrix-trapped excess electrons in D 2 0 is larger than in H20 and concluded that D 2 0 is less efficient in the initial electron localization (to yield the solvated electron) than HzO. Our results do not, however, answer the question whether a solvated electron represents the ground state of a cluster anion comprised of as few as 12 water molecules. The reason for this difference is ascribed to the lower vibrational frequency of D20. Therefore D 2 0 is more prone to autodetachment, and this process can compete more favorably with the transfer of the excess energy (electron affinity) to the lattice, which is required for prelocalization.

Metal-Metal Bonding in Engel-Brewer Intermetallics: "Anomalous" Charge Transfer in ZrPt,

Ab initio generalized valence bond, configuration interaction, and multiconfiguration self-consistent field calculations have been performed to examine the properties of the early-late transition metal bimetallic cluster ZrPt,, as a representative model of Engel-Brewer compounds. Such intermetallic compounds are known to be extremely thermally stable in the bulk form. We find the atomization en...

New Concepts of Bonding in Nonperiodic Metallic Systems*

Using the generalized valence bond method, we have examined numerous Li atom clusters (up to 13 atoms). Our conclusion is that the optimum metallic bonding involves singly-occupied orbitals localized i n t e r s t i t i a l l y , e.g., in bond midpoints, triangular hollows, and tetrahedra. For LiTR, the low energy isomers have local f ive-fold symmetry axes (as in an icosa~edron) but lead to lo...

DFT and HF Studies: Geometry, Hydrogen Bonding, Vibrational Frequencies and Electronic Properties of Enaminones and Their Complexes with Transition Metals

Enaminones are those structures made up three various functional groups including carbonyl, alkeneand amine groups which arelocated along with each other in a conjugate fashion. These compoundsare of much attention due to special characteristics and numerous applications. In the paper, sixvarious enaminone structures were theoretically optimized and after concluding, were compared withequivalen...

Comparison of shear bond strength of the stainless steel metallic brackets bonded by three bonding systems

Introduction: In orthodontic treatment, it is essential to establish a satisfactory bond between enamel and bracket. After the self-etch primers (SEPs) were introduced for the facilitation of bracket bonding in comparison to the conventional etch-and-bond system, multiple studies have been carried out on their shear bond strengths which have yielded different results. This study was aimed at co...

Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Ni,( C2H4)m. Synthesis, Vibrational and Electronic Spectra, and Generalized Valence Bond-Configuration Interaction Studies. The Metal Atom Chemistry and a Localized Bonding Model for Ethylene Chemisorbed on Bulk Nickel

Using cryochemical manipulation of Ni atom reactions with ethylene-argon mixtures at 15-25 K and from examination of the vibrational and electronic spectra, we have identified N i ~ ( c 2 H 4 ) ~ (where rn = 1,2) in the presence of Ni(CZH4), (where m = I , 2, 3). These results suggest strongly that the ethylene moiety is complexed to the chemical site in a r-complexed manner, probably i n assoc...
